About Breast Lifts
There are a number of different factors that can affect breast size, shape and placement, from exercise habits to hormone levels. Many women notice a dramatic difference in their breasts following weight loss or after pregnancy and nursing, while others see gradual changes appear more slowly in their figure as they grow older.
During breast lift surgery, technically known as mastopexy, Dr. Halls reshapes your natural breast tissue for a younger-looking silhouette and firmer texture, removing excess fatty deposits and glandular tissue as needed. At the same time, he trims away excess skin and tightens the remainder to provide greater support to the recontoured breast. The nipple and areola can also be reduced and repositioned during a breast lift.
A breast lift can be scheduled as a solo surgery in women who want to enhance their breasts without getting breast implants, but can also be performed as a combination breast lift with augmentation. Breast lifts are also typically included as part of breast reduction as well. It’s important to understand the difference in these procedures so you can make the decision about which approach could best meet your needs.
- Breast Lift vs. Breast Augmentation: A breast lift is designed to bring out the best in your natural assets, but won’t give you an increase in cup size. Breast implants will boost your breast measurements, but can’t change the shape or placement of your breasts. Either option can deliver excellent results in the right candidate, and it’s very common to combine procedures for a final breast shape that’s larger as well as uplifted.
- Breast Lift vs. Breast Reduction: When performed on its own, a breast lift won’t significantly reduce breast size unless a breast reduction is included as well. At the same time, a breast reduction is about more than simply removing breast tissue arbitrarily, which would end up creating irregular contours. By reshaping your breast tissue and tightening your skin during a breast reduction, Dr. Halls creates a smaller, firmer breast shape that’s still proportionate to your frame.

Breast Lift Pricing
The cost of a breast lift varies depending on the approach Dr. Halls takes during surgery and whether other procedures, like a breast augmentation are included at the same time. The charges associated with breast lift surgery include Dr. Halls’ surgical fee, the cost for the surgical facility, and anesthesiologist fees. After your consultation Dr. Halls’ staff will discuss surgical costs with you, including information about procedures that may be partially or fully covered by your insurance plan, so you can make an informed decision before moving forward. Typically health insurance coverage for Breast Lift or Breast Augmentation surgery is only allowed if you have a personal history of breast cancer and the lift or augmentation is performed in conjunction with breast reconstruction following a mastectomy or lumpectomy.
Recovery & Results
You should see an immediate change in your breasts after surgery, although your final results will gradually become more apparent as your healing progresses. Initial swelling will dissipate and you can expect the appearance of your scars to fade considerably over the following weeks and months after your surgery. Dr. Halls will ask you to wear an elastic bandage or special bra to support your breasts in their new position and help you feel more comfortable during the early stages of recovery. You will also be provided with detailed post-operative care instructions and given a date for your first follow-up appointment.
Following your breast lift, your breasts should look higher and feel firmer, with nipples and areolas proportionate and centered rather than pointing downward. Although volume is not increased through a breast lift, your natural breasts will look perkier and more youthful, so your figure will look revitalized and refreshed without the need for breast implants.
